Known for his daring, sensual, and technically brilliant work—most famously his 1975 photobook Underwater Love with actress Mieko Harada and his iconic 1991 cover for Yuming’s album Umi no Yami Kara —Shinoyama was the master of the "nuance nude." He didn't just photograph bodies; he photographed light, shadow, and the tension between public persona and private intimacy.

Rie Miyazawa was the quintessential Japanese idol of the late economic bubble era. Born to a Japanese mother and a Dutch father, her striking looks made her a commercial darling from early childhood. By 1991, she was a household name, famous for her roles in hit television dramas, movies, and high-profile commercials (most notably as the "White Shirt" girl for Calpis water). She possessed a wholesome, innocent, and deeply loved public persona. Kishin Shinoyama: The Master of "Gekisha"
