CoH2’s netcode is notoriously unforgiving. If a player drops from a match for more than approximately 60 seconds, the server does not pause and wait. Instead, it assumes the player has abandoned the game. When that player reopens the client and clicks “Rejoin,” the server responds with the infamous error. The match technically still exists for the remaining players, but for the disconnected player, it is already a ghost.
